Mike Putnam began his career in Greenville, NC with contract drug manufacturer Catalytica and DSM Pharmaceuticals (now Patheon).  In his role with Catalytica/DSM, he led regulatory testing initiatives for enterprise IT applications, laboratory instrumentation, process automation, and production equipment systems.  In 2002, he founded Sequence, Inc. as a way to provide high-caliber consultants to assist manufacturers in complying with increasingly complex regulatory requirements.  Since inception, Sequence, Inc. has emerged as a leader in its field serving clients worldwide.  Mike serves on numerous industry boards for professional organizations and universities.  Mr. Putnam attended East Carolina University where he earned his B.S. degree in Industrial Technology (Manufacturing concentration) in 1998 and M.S. degree in Industrial Technology (Digital Communications concentration) in 2001.  He resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Rebecca and sons Grayson, Chase, and Cohen.

Samir Patel is a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Computer Science.  His career in the Life Science industry began when he joined DSM/Catalytica to support validation of Sterile Manufacturing Automation Systems, Site IT Systems and Analytical Lab Systems.  With a solid foundation in Computer Systems validation he joined Sequence in 2003 to serve as a lead for many computer systems validation projects including full implementations of LIMS, a multitude of  analytical lab systems, and other enterprise IT systems.   In addition to validation, Samir has led an IT-based data integrity project to modernize and secure operations of various client analytical lab systems and lab related IS systems.  Samir has also served as Sequence management team member since joining Sequence and is currently serving as Vice President of Technology to help Sequence become a leading provider of regulated industry related technologies.  Samir is an active ISPE member and resides in Raleigh with his wife Anu, his son Sidharth and daughter Lakshmi.

Jeff Price entered the pharmaceutical industry in 1999 when he joined Catalytica and DSM Pharmaceuticals (now Patheon)  in Greenville, NC.  Jeff brought a background in supporting and maintaining automated computer systems to DSM/Catalytica, where he supported validation and compliance initiatives for process automation systems, enterprise IT systems, and laboratory systems.  In 2003, he joined Sequence, Inc. as a validation consultant supporting various clients in laboratory systems and IT enterprise applications.  Since then, he has assisted in developing Sequence as a full-service quality and compliance services provider to the Life Science industries.  He has served in his current role as Vice President of Operations since 2011 and is responsible for oversight of business operations, project management, and client relationship management.  Jeff is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Military Policeman and supported activities in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  He attended East Carolina University where he obtained a B.S. degree in Manufacturing in 1999.  Jeff currently resides in Greenville, NC with his wife Lisa and their son Jason, and their daughter Kara.

Daniel Santarsiero obtained both his B.S. degree in Industrial Technology and M.S. degree in Manufacturing from East Carolina University.  He joined Sequence, Inc., in August of 2002 as a Validation Consultant tasked with supporting the validation needs of existing and prospective clients, while assisting in advancing Sequence, Inc., as a leader in the Life Science industry.  With prior experience and a background in Information, Laboratory, and Automation systems, Dan began his Sequence career at Bayer Pharmaceuticals (now Grifols), in Clayton, NC and quickly advanced to become the Validation Lead for projects at Wyeth Vaccines, Novartis, and Hospira.  Through exhibiting professionalism, in-depth industry knowledge, and establishing trusting relations, as well as his attainment of key company goals and clientele, Dan has been instrumental in the development of Sequence, Inc into one of the premier leaders in the Quality and Compliance Services in the Life Sciences industry.  Dan currently resides in Clayton, NC with his wife Michele, their daughters Ava and Marley, and son Everette.

James Irons has been working in the pharmaceutical industry since 2001 when he worked as an intern in the Systems Validation department at DSM Pharmaceuticals in Greenville, NC.   Upon Graduation from East Carolina University with his B.S.B.A. degree in Decision Science (concentration in Management Information Systems), James accepted a position at DSM Pharmaceuticals.  During his time at DSM Pharmaceuticals, James supported validation and compliance initiatives for the Information Technology group as a consultant specializing in Computerized System Validation.  He has supported computer system, equipment, and automation validation efforts at various clients, and served as Validation Project Manager on multiple projects.  James joined Sequence, Inc. in 2005.  He currently resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Tiffany and their sons JJ and Elijah.

Carl Johnson began his career at Catalytica and DSM Pharmaceuticals (now Patheon) in Greenville, NC.  In his role with Catalytica/DSM, he concentrated mainly on process engineering, process automation, and production equipment systems.  In 2001 Carl transitioned into the consulting field by owning his own company and providing various clients support in process engineering, automation and controls, process automation, production equipment systems, lab services, and Fill Line equipment and processes.  After 11 years, Carl joined Sequence, Inc. in 2012 as Senior Manager Manufacturing Systems Services.  Since joining Sequence, Inc. Carl has transformed the Manufacturing Systems Services group to inclued new services and become the Engineering and Technical Services.  His team consists of more than 40 high caliber consultants that provide clients with a vast array of expertise from Start Up Commissioning activities to Finish Goods.  Carl is veteran of the Marine Corps and served in Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm.  Carl holds degrees in Computer Programming and Computer Networking.  Carl currently resides in Greenville, NC along with his wife Ande and their sons Christopher and Tyler.

Chad Cleveland has been working in the pharmaceutical industry since 2001 and has a wide range of experience within the laboratory environment. Upon graduation from North Carolina State University with his B.S. degree in Chemistry, Chad began his career at Cirrus Pharmaceuticals in RTP, NC as a bench chemist.  During his time at Cirrus Pharmaceuticals, Chad also served as the company’s Validation and Metrology Manager, Safety Officer and Building Manager.   In 2006 Chad began his consulting career with PCI in Raleigh, NC where he worked with a number of Biopharma clientele.  Chad joined Sequence Inc. in 2007 and during his initial assignment at Wyeth (now Pfizer) in Sanford, NC, he helped to develop a formal cGMP validation program within the Quality Control department and supported validation of microbiology, chemistry and environmental monitoring instrumentation and equipment. Since taking on the role of Manager of the Laboratory Compliance Services for Sequence, Chad has taken on multiple laboratory compliance projects for numerous Biopharma and medical device clients.  Chad also assisted in developing our partnership with bioMerieux sales division, and Sequence is now the preferred vendor for validation services on bioMerieux instruments.

Matt Brawner is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for learning and efficiency, and a desire to make people’s lives better.  He holds a M.S. degree in Manufacturing Technology from East Carolina University and an M.B.A. from the Kenan-Flagler Executive Program at the University of North Carolina.  Matt has over 22 years of work experience spanning industries including precision machining, automotive, product development, and drug and medical device manufacturing.  As a Lean/6 Sigma Black Belt with experience holding various roles within Quality, Engineering, Automation, IT, Manufacturing, and Organizational Excellence, Matt strives to deliver innovative and high-value quality solutions.  Matt holds three patents serving the pharmaceutical, environmental, and fitness markets. He attributes his success to the capable teams with which he has worked.  Matt lives in Raleigh with his wife Anna, and sons Hayes and Zachary.

John Hartman has been engaged in the Commissioning and Validation of building systems and pharmaceutical manufacturing for the past 11 years.  He served 9 years in the US Navy Nuclear Power Program as a First Class Electricians Mate in US Naval Nuclear Powered Submarine Fleet.  After leaving the Navy in 2002 John started his career as commissioning and validation contractor on his first project at Bayer in Clayton NC.  In 2007 John became the Technical Services Manager for an engineering firm out of Morrisville, NC.  He operated his own business in 2013 working closely with Sequence, Inc.  In 2014 he joined the Sequence team as the Manager of Equipment/Utilities.  Since his first project John’s experience has includes commissioning, ASTM E2500 verification, validation, design, energy consulting, and engineering field services in the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical industries, university lab systems, government facilities, and data storage centers.  John has a BS in Engineering Management Technology and an AAS in Electronics Engineering Technology.  He is a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) with ACG.  John currently resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Kristi.

Jonathan began working in the pharmaceutical industry in 2004 after serving as a Process Engineer with Honeywell in the Specialty Chemicals Division.  Jonathan graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. in Chemistry from North Carolina State.  For the last 10 years, Jonathan has worked as a project engineer/project manager supporting large capital projects for implementation of DeltaV platforms to automate various utilities and process operations.  Jonathan most recently served as project manager for the commissioning and qualification of the DeltaV software supporting the Grifols Fractionation Project, which was awarded the 2014 ISPE Facility of Year for Project Execution.  Since mid-2013, Jonathan has been supporting the new Baxter Greenfield Facility by developing functional requirements for the Distributed Control System (DCS) in Covington, GA.  He currently resides in Fuquay Varina, NC with his wife Susan, daughter Peyton, and son Brayden.

Mill began his career with Texas Instruments in the semiconductor industry implementing PLC automation projects and finishing as a lead application engineer implementing multi-million dollar DCS projects for several food and chemical industry customers.  In 1994 Mill formed his own company to provide services in the pharmaceutical industry.   That support consisted of engineering, production, and validation support of a sterile products facility.  Mill has also been responsible for the implementation and qualification of many automation solutions upgrades and installations involving the expansion of existing facilities.  The equipment involved included compounding tanks, washers, tunnels, filling, loading/unloading equipment, freeze dryers, and cappers.  More recently, Mill was part of IMA Life, involved as the global automation manager involved with equipment projects providing PLC and SCADA solutions.  Mill joined Sequence in the summer of 2015 in order to start providing integration, automation, and control solutions to a national client base.  Mill attended the Rochester Institute of Technology where he earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering.  Mill currently resides in Greenville, NC with his daughters, Caitlin, Kendall, and Riley.

Since mid 2013, Justin has supported the new Baxter facility in Covington, GA by creating the process control system functional specifications for all utility systems, the manufacturing execution system functional specifications for various process systems and the validation schedule/strategy for the site-wide process control system. He currently resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Randi and their three daughters, Kate, Landyn, and Madelyn.

Jill Schmitt has been working in the pharmaceutical industry since 2004 and has a range of experience in GLP and GMP environments.  After graduating from Northern Michigan University with a B.S. in Biology, Jill began her career at MPI Research in Kalamazoo, MI as a research associate for pre-clinical studies.  During her time at MPI, Jill was involved with small laboratory equipment qualifications and also served as a system administrator.  In 2008 Jill began working on equipment, cleaning, and process validation for a biopharmaceutical company in Lansing, MI.  Jill also has a range of experience working in Quality Management Systems; including deviation, change control, CAPA and document management.  Jill began her consulting career at Sequence, Inc. in 2013 and has supported various clients in equipment, automation and enterprise IT systems.  Jill currently enjoys life inside the Raleigh beltline with her dog Stan.

Eric graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences and a Minor in Anatomy/Neurobiology. He has since obtained his M.A. degrees in Management and Computer Resources Management from Webster University and earned Six Sigma Green and Black Belt certifications and Lean Manufacturing Certificate from NNE PharmaPlan.  Since 1992, Eric has worked primarily in Quality Control Microbiology and Virology laboratories for leaders in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries.  He has developed and worked with highly effective teams involved with projects such as green-field facility startups, LIMS implementations, and compliance remediation activities.  Through his roles in microbiology and virology laboratories, he has also been involved with contamination investigations, laboratory investigations, environmental monitoring program assessments, and the validation/verification of microbiological methods.  While with Sequence, Eric has been able to leverage his experience in assisting clients with projects that include project management, 21 CFR Part 11 assessments, and the validation of laboratory instruments and equipment.  Eric is currently residing in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife Peri, their daughter Kambyl, and son Connor.

Andrew Wilding is the Controller for Sequence, Inc. This position is responsible for all financial operations for the company including accounting, financial planning & analysis, procurement, and treasury management. Mr. Wilding has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, optimizing financial structures, corporate development and strategy, systems implementation, and foreign subsidiary management. Prior to Sequence, Inc. Andrew has served as Controller at Peoplefluent, Inc. and Director of Finance at Blackboard, Inc. Andrew has an undergraduate degree in Finance and a Masters in Accounting and Financial Management; in addition he holds his credential as a Certified Management Accountant.
